D r. Theresa Züger is an expert on digital civil engagement and currently the head of the project office for the Third Engagement Report for the German Federal Government.
Theresa received her doctorate in media studies at Humboldt University in Berlin in 2017. Her PhD “Relaod Disobedience” dealt with digital forms of civil disobedience. During her doctorate, Theresa was a research fellow in the research area “Global Constitutionalism and the Internet” under the direction of Prof. Dr. Ingolf Pernice. Prior to this, Theresa studied theatre, film and television studies, German and philosophy at the University of Cologne.
In 2013, Theresa was Visiting Researcher at the Center for New Media at the University of California, Berkeley. In 2016, in addition to her doctorate, she worked for transmediale, an international festival on art and digital culture, curating and moderating the thematic stream “anxious to secure”, focusing security policy and culture. 2017-2018, Theresa has headed the Media Policy Lab, a project for scientific networking and innovation regarding the regulation of intermediaries, for the Medienanstalt Berlin-Brandenburg.
In 2017 Theresa was a research fellow at the Center for Advanced Internet Studies with her transdisciplinary research project “Polynocular Tech Lab.”
Whenever time allows, Theresa is Jazz singer and music enthusiast. In her life, there is no day without music or art.
